Executive 1-2-1 Coaching

Do any of these sound familiar?

  • "I would like to change career but don't know how to"
  • " I am lacking confidence and want to be noticed more by my manager"
  • " I am struggling with a member of staff's behaviour"
  • " I am starting a new job but I don't know if I have the skills"
  • " I hate interviews but I want to apply for a new job"
  • " I would like to improve my communication skills"
  • " I would like to improve my management skills"
  • " I want to be a better leader"

These are just a few examples of why people decide to be coached.  Coaching may address specific personal projects, business successes or general conditions in the coachee's life or profession.

For coaching to work well there needs to be

  • a goal to achieve and
  • the willingness and desire from the coachee to want to make necessary changes to their life.

Coaching is NOT about giving advice and solutions.   The coach IS a facilitator of change.  Coaching is about being asked incisive and challenging questions to help the coachee to identify issues and problems at a deeper level which may be stopping them achieving their goal.  Where appropriate, a range of facilitative coaching techniques will be used including:-

  • brainstorming using post it notes
  • questionnaires
  • NLP
  • rich picture
  • management and communication models and theories

Throughout the working relationship the coach will engage in direct and personal conversations.  Successful coaching requires a co-active collaborative approach between coachee and coach.  It is the responsibility of the coachee to enact or bring about the change.
